Are there any cell phones that seem to help older parents rather than the ones with smaller keys? My mom texts well if she can see the keys.

My FIL is not technologically inclined. His cellphone may as well be a paperweight. Years ago he bought a car that had a backup camera. He asked if that meant it parked itself. Priceless.

I believe the new Apple watch acts like a cellphone. You just have to speak the numbers and it dials.

The phones with big numbers or a keypad plugged in,one that you can talk to, like " ok Google" which does most things she would need to do.

StillTrying, that is great that your Mom is able to do this. My cellphone has a slideout keyboard but the keys are small and I hate using it so my texts are usually one word sentence :P

Now I have noticed the larger Smartphone or iPads [or whatever they are called this month] have a much larger keyboard, but using such a cellphone is complex for us non-teckie types. My boss is always messing up with his. And he uses a stylus type pen to type out something on his phone.

My mother texts me everyday to tell me she is up and before she goes to bed. It's a skill she mastered at least ten years ago. She is just frustrated with trying to see the keys and can no longer memorize them. She wants to know how to make it easier and less frustrating.

I know a cellphone wouldn't work for my Dad, he would be misplacing it every other day.... at least with an old fashioned landline phones [which are in every room], one doesn't find its way under the recliner or in the wastebasket :P

Check out the Jitterbug cell phone. It's designed for seniors. You can google "jitterbug cell phone" and see pictures and read about it. Good luck!!

We tried several different phones for mom. The only one she could still use was a VERY old rotary dial phone. Funny how their mind goes back to skills from 50 years ago. Texting is not going to happen.
