We almost lost my dad to a horrible infection last year... While he was in the hospital, he told me that his deceased father came to him in a dream telling him that it wasn't his time yet, that he had till this next Easter, and then the Lord would call him home.
To this day, he randomly reminds me that his time is almost up and that he would be going home around Easter.
Has anyone had a similar experience with a loved one?

If it is important for him to cling on to this belief I would be the last to argue it with him. I would simply reply "I hope that Grandad comes back to give you some more time, because I don't want to lose you, but I guarantee if you take off fishing with him I will keep you and your wisdom with me every day, and I will be OK And when it's close to my time I hope you will come get me, too".

I saw my grandmother when I was 6. At 72 I remember every detail so for me it wasn't a dream.

Your Dad suffers from dementia. Did his brain conjure this up? Or is there a heaven where our deceased LOs can come to us in dreams? Scientist say no. When we are dying the brain brings on these allusions. Does it really matter? It brings joy to your Dad to know that he will be seeing his Dad at Easter. What a lovely way to go, unafraid.

At this time of year I really miss my Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and parents who have passed on. I have good memories of them all. Some went too soon. We all are going to pass on its just a matter of when. Your Dad has so many health problems and throw in Dementia that is robbing him of his memories. He is probably tired and ready to go. You can't have him forever so enjoy the time you do have with him.

My SO is not religious at all. Nor does he have any MH history. But from his boyhood, he has seen things that can't be explained except through the spiritual realm. A little boy came and sat on his bed when he was a little one, for example. A couple times in adulthood he saw people.

He almost drowned in 2018, and that triggered an NDE where he felt all his ancestors and deceased. He felt the need to write his cousin. She died a month later of cancer, and her pastor said that letter was of great comfort.

Some people do see things. It is a comfort to your dad that he was able to.

Interesting Easter is the time chosen, whose date changes every year-so...there's that to consider as well. Seems like you're in Texas, I bet Spring time is lovely there. Personally, I would not stress over this, because there are bigger issues down the road with very sick people, and perhaps it's best to take a break from the worry and speculation about this, when reality may have something that will dwarf this concern. I hope not, but.....caregiving can be a roller coaster of unexpected events.
I also like Grandma1954 observation of your Dad being at peace, and that's worth a lot too.

I have not but...
Does this upset you? I know you are very close to your dad.
Use the conversation to ask him if there is anything that he needs to do. Ask him about his dad if you don't know a lot about him. Or if you do talk about him.
And you can always mention that God can also change his mind, if he does not feel that your dad is "ready".
If your dad is at peace with this idea and his "time line" I hope that gives you some comfort that your dad is not worried or anxious about it.
