A nice size studio will be more open and better to get around with a walker if not a lot of "stuff". I too think this is a decision for Dad.

It's going to be interesting to see. I'm going to try to take him tomorrow, and you may be right that he resonates with the simpler layout of the studio.

Ask him which he wants. My brother wanted a one bedroom, so that is what we got. He was not overly social, liked often to be in his own rooms reading or relaxing with his radio, and with his best friend there. He had enough last treasures in furniture he collected and pottery that he wanted it displayed around him. So if there is a preference of the resident that's the way I would go given there is no worry over finances.

My mom has way too much stuff…. Could not get her to let go of her possessions. I would give her the bedroom in a heartbeat if she could afford it. My in laws are in a studio that’s larger than my moms… feels like a hotel room…

Did your father leave his apartment before rehab ? If so , he probably will future. My mom wouldn’t regardless of where she is…

it’s surprising how cramped everything is in a studio. Your Dad will get more movement in the one bedroom.

He's already been in assisted living in a one bedroom for several years. He was more mobile then and the one bedroom made sense. Now he's on a walker. So we've already trimmed his things down once, but we'd have to trim them down again to fit in a studio, yes.
