Find Care & Housing
When I hired my dad’s helper I requested she help with meal prep, any dressing he might struggle with, taking him on errands and appointments, getting the mail, doing his laundry and changing his sheets (a constant on that one) I had him agree to take his shower while she was there, though she didn’t help it was better for his safety. After a couple of months he got rid of the monthly housekeeper he’d had and paid the helper to do those tasks. All of this was for his benefit and I’d think that makes it mostly the same no matter the setting

My husband's caregiver is primarily to be a companion for my husband, and to help him with his daily activities, dressing, eating, toileting, etc. She also does light house keeping; sweeps and mops, cleaning husband's bathroom, laundry, and fixing his breakfast or lunch. I told her what needed to be done, and she does them on her schefule.

Help with dressing, light meals, toileting and bathing assistance are pretty standard. Perhaps some kind of game or activity he enjoys. For me the number one was just being there so that I could go out.
