My mother has begun to show symptoms of early onset dementia/Alzheimers and I am desperate for some advice. It started about 2 months ago when she started calling me late at night and asking why the bank was closed ( she was sitting outside of the bank in her car) after that she would call at odd hours and be upset that I wasn't there to take her to dr's appts (odd hours like 1 and 2 am) This week she has forgotten where I live and cannot drive over...she swears she is sitting in my driveway and my car isn't there but I'm outside and she is nowhere to be seen. I finally had to go looking for her and found her in another town after she gave me a house number and street name nearby. Two times she has driven home to my fathers house, she hasn't lived there in over 20 years. She seems perfectly normal most of the time but after 4pm she starts to go downhill fast. Today she forgot what the internet was and could not fathom "something so fantastically sci-fi" could exist. I cannot convince her to go to the Doctor about her symptoms and I am afraid something is going to happen when I'm not with her. She lives alone and I don't think that is going to last much longer. How can I get her into a Dr office?
If that doesn't work, when your Mom starts acting confused the next time she calls you up late at night, tell her your coming over to pick her up and tell her you're going to visit a friend, who happens to work at an office late at night... then take her to an urgent care or ER. Play the story line how ever would work best for you.
