My mom is disabled and on medicare. Her heath plan with medicare is really good with good doctors, but her dental is terrible. There are no good dentists here who take medicare OR medicaid plans. I have a great dentist and a good dental plan through work and would like to add her to my plan. Can I do that without messing up her other coverage?

After a while I was able to get an answer, which was no. I could not put her on my plan. I tried to get her an independant plan but was never able to look at the available plans. So I am still trying to get her decent coverage.

I remember looking at different dental plans for myself and was surprised that some plans you couldn't use the plan until 6 months after first signing up. Guess that is similar to looking for house insurance the day after the house caught on fire.

Most dentists are walking away from any Medicaid patients, because the reimbursements are so ridiculously low. Make sure your dental plan will accept her and cover things like dentures.

I was under the impression that Medicare doesn't cover routine dental care but will cover in-hospital type surgeries to the jaw. Unless this has changed recently, I suggest calling Medicare to see exactly what care is covered.
