Hi there everyone, I'm working as a live-in carer ( but don't take care of any family members) and would really like to find a similar forum to this one where I can discuss things in ways that the people on this forum do. It's such a tough job and I work in isolation with people who often take advantage of both the isolated situation and my nature (I'm quite gentle/easy going). As much as I love my job I would really like to find some kind of support network as my family never properly understand how tough things can get and I wouldn't talk to friends either as it's heavy stuff. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

So, why not this forum? I was thrilled to find it. So many are out there, but the posts are years old. This place is wonderful.

Most of us are caring for parents or spouses. Some are caring for grandparents or other relatives. But there are some professional caregivers on here, too. We welcome that perspective -- many of hire caregivers and seeing things from that side is valuable. I would say that the common denominator is that we are caring for elders. Someone caring for a special needs child, for example, would probably not feel as comfortable here.

Tiny, as Jeanne says, there ARE some professional caregivers here, as well as some folks are both professional during the day and care for an elderly parent at night (saints, they're called). So, welcome!

Hey, thanks for answering. I wasn't sure whether I'd be alright to use the particular one since I'm not related to the people that I care for, if that makes sense.
