Mom is 89 and suffers from COPD, Alzheimers, dementia, and Parkinson. She is having periods where she will sweat profusely leaving clothing wet and her skin clammy. At the same time, there is no increase in body temperature or fever, and it is not a case where she had a heavy blanket on or was over covered.

Her nurse that I have coming in to bathe and tend to mom mentioned that this is a sign of cardiac issues especially since her sleep has gotten deeper to where she is breathing but won't wake up even by rocking the bed, or calling her name.

What have others experienced and is this the case? Not sure what else it can be.

Thanks!!

Night sweats can be a symptom of many things, from serious to not serious. But as NeedHelpWithMom suggested, don't let it go -- contacting her doctor with this new concern is the place to start. Don't "crowdsource" a diagnosis for her...it's not the best strategy in this case.

I would be speaking to her doctor. Is it possible to have a telehealth meeting for her? Do you have medical POA?

Thanks for the reply! MD doesn't do telehealth meeting but I called and gave them all the input and the MD will be calling back this afternoon. She also has had thyroid issues for years so that may be a possibility as well from what I am able to see.

Sounds like hot flashes. Maybe her hormones are screwed up.
