We applied for the IHSS waiver. It's been about 9 months and we haven't heard anything. She has ZERO income and zero assets. We found out they are stuck waiting for income verification. Does my son-in-law's income count towards her income?

Depending on age, yes son in law’s income can be part of calculation, are parents married? If granddaughter is under 25, some states look to both parents for calculations. All states do for under 18 or if SIL had her as dependent as medically needy…

Unless granddaughter is under 18, I see no reason why her parents are considered when it comes to income. Under 26 means she can remain on her parents health insurance. I would ask them, what income, she has none.

This granddaughter should be able to get Social Security Disability if under 65. This would give her Medicare. There is Supplimental income (SSI) for disabled too. Need to go to Social Services for info on both.

She lives with your daughter and son-in-law?
I am not certain, but I don't think her father's income should count as HER income.
Some of that may be dependent on whether or not she is a dependent claimed on taxes? But I honestly have utterly no idea.
I assume she is on disability and that is her only income?

Guestshop Admin seems to have information that it does in some way?
I wonder if you don't need the advise of some attorney on this, or a CPA and I wonder if you might be able to find legal help through Easter Seals.

Facebook is full of support groups. There must be some for those with MS and I wonder if that would not be a good place to join and try to find some information.

Wish I could help and wish you good luck.
