I owe for those months that are already paid for ?

Find Care & Housing
You personally should not owe them anything unless you signed admission paperwork stating that you personally would be financially responsible for her. If you did sign that paperwork, then ask for a detailed itemized statement showing exactly what Medicare and Medicaid did and didn’t pay. If mom had nursing home Medicaid, then that should cover all bills. Ask the Medicaid office for clarification.

Did you pay her share of cost? Medicaid pays the BALANCE of charges for nursing home after your parent pays their share of cost. Most states only let a person keep a small personal needs allowance approx $60-$125 per month. If your mother paid nothing, then yes she (or you as POA) need to pay her share. Medicaid does NOT PAY 100% of the fee for nursing home.

Was this Rehab? Medicare pays for 100 days only. 1 to 20 days 100 %. 21 to 100 days 50%. The other 50% is paid by the patient or the insurance company. In my Moms case if the supplimental paid it wasn't all of it and she owed $150 a day.

Was she approved for Medicaid because she was transferred from rehab to Longterm care? Have you been sending in her Social Security and any pension she receives? If not, that is owed. Medicaid only pays a portion of the cost a nd wmha t they pay is based on what Mom pays, which is her SScand any pension she has.
