Can the UK go after a POA for an Alzheimer afflicted parent’s unpaid taxes? My parent is not a UK national but lived there a long time. Recently moved back to home country and now has Alzheimer's and is in a care home. I am the only POA and live outside the EU in a third country (different to parent). Parent didn’t pay taxes for some years in the UK as Alzheimers was taking over and many things were left undone. But now isn’t living in the UK and will never go back and isn’t handling anything by herself any more. Full time residential care and I’m remotely handling everything (am living not in the same country as parent).
I have no idea of what taxes weren’t paid as parent never told anyone!
Am I in any way liable for figuring out, paying her taxes ?
My opinion, see a tax accountant that knows something about international law.
