Does anyone know if there are any programs or organizations that would help pay for installation of a walk in therapy tub for my husband? I asked our social worker with the hospice service but she has not let me know yet. I believe it would help my husband with his all over body aches, joint and muscle pain. He can’t get in or out of our current tub due to the sliding doors and how small the tub and bathroom are.

These tubs cost up to 10k, maybe more. Probably not a medically needed thing. They are a luxury, I would say.

Something to consider: You can’t get out of a walk-in tub until it’s empty. You have to sit in there, wet and cold, and wait for the water to drain.

EXACTLY! This proves that advertising works. Plus make sure there is proper support for the tub. Better to get a shower with maybe a steam feature and size for a wheel chair or seat. Much better alternatives rather than a walk in tub.

I too would like a warm water pool but that’s not going to happen for free.

Penguina, do you live in a 55+ community? If not, please note if you can get a walk-in tub, and later down the road it is time to sell the house, your Realtor may recommend that the walk-in tub be removed and a regular tub/shower be put in its place. Otherwise, you could lose younger buyers. This cost would be placed on you.

Massage could work.

Have you looked into a small 2 person, pluggable hot tub? They even have inflatable ones.

It could go right outside a door and they are way cheaper than walk in tubs.

While this would surely help us all with our aches and pains, I don't think you'll find governmental assistance in installing such a thing.

Like Solar today, I would caution you against unrealistic "promises" and payment programs from installers as well. Treat it all as though you were talking to the old proverbial "used care salesman" (I say that as someone who has the most honest friend who HAS such a lot, ha ha; it's an expression that is perhaps past it's time in a woke-world).

Good luck.

I’ve seen one in person in a home and they are gigantic. They are a luxury and are expensive and you would likely have to remodel your bathroom to fit one.

You are looking at tens of thousands of dollars. No program exists to get that for free.

Look on Amazon for an inflatable one that might work with your husband’s needs.
