I need to have a human face on all of the details and advice on care-giving. I need to have anecdotal real-life experience using organized principles of responsible care-giving so I can extract the best from myself in a humane and loving manner.

pstegman is right. We might not be face to face, but there's lots of great advice to be found here. I understand what you're saying though about in person interaction in the same room.

My mom's AL has a caregiver's group that meets once a month. Anyone is welcome even if their parent isn't a resident there. Four people were there last time who just wanted to check it out. I wish we met more often. It is very helpful to talk to others in the same boat in an "in person" situation.

Call your local assisted living places or nursing homes and see if they have a group, also your Area Agency on Aging, even the local Senior Center. Hopefully you will find the support you need.
