This may seem like a silly question but my mom needs new pants and I don’t have time to race around looking so I’m hoping to purchase online. Previous brands that worked well ( Mudd and Retrology ) don’t seem to exist or carry what we need.

She’s about 5’8 and 180 the bulk of which is the lower half…despite efforts she keeps getting bigger and I have to get more clothes. Moderate/Severe dementia so we need an easy pull on kind that’s loose enough to accomodate a diaper. What I liked about the brands above in those pants is they were loose ( until she outgrew them ) and had nice patterns so she wasn’t just wearing sweats. She gets fully dressed every day which is pretty sweet so it’d be nice to find ‘upgraded sweatpants’ so to speak.

Any ideas? And thank you!

When my husband had trouble with clothes I just bought plain colored pajama pants. He could handle them better than dress slacks or jeans. And they didn’t look like pjs. The plain colors camouflaged them

My daughter is a chef.

You may want to look at chef supply catalogs.

Their pants are elastic waisted, but are not sweatsuit material. Sweatsuits would be too thin and polyester-ish to be suitable, if one were to spill hot liquids on them.

Chef pants are mostly cotton, if I remember the feel of them. There are cute patterns available, as well.

Thanks! Never would have though of that. I do wear Koi scrubs for work & general use, so sorta similar…

You guys are the best! I just tried a couple of places so fingers crossed on the fits.

fyi right now Land’s End is having a big sale on those pull up pants. Go for it! I checked them out a while back as they are a familiar name but balked at the prices.

Should have mentioned I like the Walmart and Costco sweatpants a lot but mom can be picky so I need to mix it up.

I really appreciate that you guys ‘get it’! Our time to try to get all the tasks done is definitely limited. This pants question was small and literal but your answers help me A LOT.

Bless you all

QVC sells most of their pant brands up to a 5X. And the majority are pull-on.

“…..wasn’t ‘just’ wearing sweats…..”

Plain dark colored sweats were available at Walmart and Amazon in every color and STYLE imaginable, sometimes for $10 a pair.

Easy to navigate, easy to keep neat and clean, POCKETS!, cuffs or straight legs, multiple lengths available.

Paired with a cute top, a nice neat look.

Unless your mother actually wants “…nice patterns…” this can be a part of your life together that can be easier to solve,
by buying basic dark colors in her favorite style, and jazzing up her choices of tops.

My LO looked like a model until Covid ravaged her, and your mom can look great too.

I second the Land's End pants or the perfect fit knit pants from L.L. Beans. Bought for Mom, available in plus, and wear myself. They wear well, are comfortable and look decent-they have elastane, I think , which helps maintain shape. Wash and dry.

My mom (5'2" and 200#) lived in Lands End Sport Knit pants. I'd buy her five pairs at a time, then when she'd spilled enough stuff in her lap to be unable to get the spots out, I'd buy her more.

They're knit, elastic waisted, and easy to get on and off. They last forever, too.

They have plus sizes and petite, too. Mom wore a petite 2x, because all her weight was in her stomach area.

Big plus -- they're on a good sale right now, too!

Susan Graver liquid knits are GREAT pants and tops. She sells on QVC and I bought my mom 2 dozen tops and pants that are ALL easy wash and wear and very comfy. An XL may fit your mom, or a 1x for a roomier fit. Susan Graver clothing runs big.

WomanWithin.com also sells a huge selection of large size women's wear clothing.
